First Post!

My experience creating my first blog can be rated as a very good one. I had first anticipated to be fumbling around in the internet first finding blogger.com and then creating an account and after that finding out exactly how to post. And in between all of this, I was expecting my internet connection to stop working. However, the process was much simpler than that. I had no trouble whatsoever finding blogger.com and since I already had a gmail account, there was no trouble logging in. My internet connection fortunately didn’t collapse and I found it very easy to post this first blog – given the directions given my Mr. Leake and the easy-to-use website.

I say the most difficult aspect of creating the blog was arranging the format to look exactly how I wanted it to. It was less maneuverable than a word processor, so I had to spend a minute or two just fixing the format of the post. The most surprising part about creating the blog was realizing that it is actually like a website. I have heard this before but realizing it was a different experience. The post was open to anyone, including those who stumble onto it. I’ve never paid that much attention to blogs after hearing reports that it wasn’t secure, violating people’s privacy, etc. But my stance has changed as I realize that it really isn’t anything more “dangerous” than having a facebook page. The difference I see is people don’t normally write more than a few words at a time on a facebook page but a blog post can be how long as you want it to be and into a subject that you normally don’t talk about in facebook. I see blogging as basically online writing but writing that is visible to everyone.
